XTS 3000 scan problem

Post by JB »

I am having a problem with the XTS 3000 going into scan mode on its own. The radio can be sitting on a desk or in an XTVA and for unknown reasons will start to scan other talkgroups in the radio. Then all of a sudden it goes out of scan and continues to work normal. We are going to the XTS 5000 and it has occured in this radio also.

Has anyone heard of or having this problem. Any help would be great.

Since you said other radios are doing it also it is possible someone is keying up on the announcement talkgroup then if the system is busy all talkgraoups that use that ATG will be heard by each other if there is activity during the hangtime period.

Just food for thought....

Sounds like something is setup wrong in the CPS. Can't say for sure what is not set properly, but if two different radios are doing this, that sounds like a programming issue and not a defective radio.

I had a HT1250 do this years ago, and it turned out to be in the scan was not set properly under each convertional personality. I thought I was going nuts when I started scanning zone 1, then zone 2 and 3 would scan too.

Good luck :D

Sounds like a programming problem deffinitely. There is an option in the CPS which allows you to auto scan certain things. If the administrator hasn't allowed you to be able to modify your scan lists, then that another problem. The radio can scan different channels in different zones while you are on a channel. So you might want to check those things with who ever programs your radios. If your radio allows you to go in and edit your scan modes, you can scroll through and add/delete the channels you want. Hope this helps man. -Scott
