Quantar Digital Regeneration

I have a question for a Quantar guru:

When a P25 signal, such as IMBE digital voice, is repeated by a Quantar, is the entire bit stream reconstructed, or does the Quantar simply "clean it up," such as re-syncing and re-clocking, etc., as opposed to a complete, 100% from the ground up rebuild of the entire digital bit stream? Or, is it a hybrid situation, somewhere in between these two extremes?

I know that Telco T1 line repeaters, digital microwave radio repeaters, and fiber regenerators completely rebuild the digital bit stream from the ground up. This way, a nearly unlimited number of digital repeaters can be involved, with almost no signal degredation from the original.

Just curiouis if someone knows, as I'm very interested in this.

Thanks for any help on this!

My guess is that it is completely redone from the ground up. This provides the ability to add or mix other audio.
