Just got my Minitor V and figured I'd check with the experts before doing anything with it. Anything to be aware of or watch out for when programming these? Just came from the factory so its truly an out of the box experience.

There is no indicationt that the unit is actively programming. Something a "Please wait while pager is being programmed" or an hour-glass would be nice, but it's not there... other than that, you're all set.

So the first thing I'm seeing is that it doesn't like the set of tones I'm trying to use. The error I get is Tone Frequency Error! Please check the tone spacing rule. 1. Two tones in the same call address should not be the same. 2. Any two tones should be separated by minumum of 1.55% The original tone frequency is restored.
The tones I am trying to program are being done under "user" and R168(None)
2464.0 / 2162.4
2464.0 / 707.1
1320.2 / 2162.4
927.7 / 2162.4

I've tried the various tone system options though did not expect them to work either since the minitor 3's and 4's had to be setup under user and R168.
Any suggestions.

Got mine yesterday and played with the different alert tones which is kind of cool.

The addition of additional pager addresses really helps me out as I need to run with 5 two tone addresses and three long tones.

Some more status as programming such as what TPG stated would be nice.

However they are very easy to clone. Oh I also like the extended SV time, and I do have to say that the RX sens is better then the M3 or M4 but I have not had a good chance to fully test it against the RX sens of a M2

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

There is a CPS flaw.

After you select your tone freq that pisses it off... instead of pressing enter or tab, use you error to select the first tab "general" or even F2. JUST DON'T PRESS TAB OR ENTER. Otherwise it will return it to it's previous setting.

It will still :o at the freq, but when you return to the page, it will be the freq you put in (+ or - the PPS accepted value change.)

I won't promise the pager can tell the difference because of the 1.55%, but there's the workaround...

Other work arounds exist...

Still trying to get this accomplished. I did find that I had to remove all the entries that were there by default before I could enter my own. This got me past the 1.55% notice.

I still however am having issues trying to get the correct tones set. Does anyone know the variance on tones as to how far off the pager would still trip?

For example when setting 2464.0 the software changes 2463.0, 2162.4 changes to 2163.4, 707.1 changes to 707.3 and 927.7 changes to 927.4

I know that in the past when speaking with the MOT tech there was a variance of which you could put in a frequency that was slightly off such as the 707.1 to 707.3 and it would work. That's just an example I don't remember what the actual tone or offset was.

Any suggestions.

The PPS will change it to it's closest calculated tone on it's own. You put in the tone you want, it will change it on it's own. This only applies when using "user" tones. The pager will work ok.

If you select Motorola or Plectron for example, it will take the exact freq you put in.

Motorola has been doing this since the Min 3's.

Thanks all. It appears to be working with the offset frequencies. At least two of the four anyway. I also had to pay more attention to the difference between delay n and revert n. Reminded me of the old minitor I's. anyway thanks !
