Is there any way to setup an Astro Spectra to have Zone-slaved scan lists instead of scan list tied to the selected mode? I know you can do this on an analog Spectra but I don't see this option in the CPS for the Astro.

You can't do this on the Astro Spectra. Each channel personality has it's own scan list, and they aren't assignable by zone. (unless you dupe out channel personalities and place them in zones where they would dupe with different scan lists selected.)
There are ways around it - but not like the Analog Spectra.

What I did (which matches my Astro portables) is to make each zone 16 channels, and assign them to a scan list. Ch 1-16 scan list 1, ch 17-32 scan list 2, etc.

Looks like another step backward for Motorola.... now I have to repeat channels numerous times in order to have easily accesible different lists that scan different subsets of the same agencies. That's means a lot of duplication (and chance for error) as well as a waste of channels. Oh well, what can you expect from a manufacturer with no real competition.....

You don't have to duplicate channels. Just select stuff in the scan lists from the other zone. I did this for awhile, but I preferred to keep personailty numbers and channel numbers the same, so I did a lot of duplication for my own programming sanity.
Either way, you do have 255 channels to play with (w3,7,9)

I don't know any alternative but to repeat channels. I want to be able to stay on my main channel but scan different lists depending on which area I am in. The main channel (and several others) don't change and exist in several zones but I want to scan different lists based on the zone. The only solution I know is to duplicate each of these channels and assign one to each zone so they can assigned different scan lists. A pain.... yes, there are a lot of channels but if you have 10 common channels and have to repeat them in each of 10 zones you just lost 100 channels.... Life is so much simpler when you have Zone-slaved scan lists.
