IXO paging server

The short story: Old equipment... can send alphapages by modem but can't send messages to an e-mail address.

Anyone have a source for software that will act as an IXO paging server, receiving the messages by modem and then sending them out as e-mails instead of to a digital pager? Preferrably something that will run on a Unix server (Linux, FreeBSD, ...). Something that acts as an IXO paging server (i.e., talks the language to IXO clients) that I can adapt to send e-mails instead of pages?

Plenty of programs that will take an e-mail and send it to a pager but I can't find anything that goes in the other direction.

Thoughts?
