Odd Astro Saber keyload message...

So, joy of all joys, my new crypto module for my Astro Saber came in the mail today. After installing it, and firing up the keyloader, I loaded my first key into the first slot in the radio (I have 4 total setup, slots 0-3). So far so good.

So I went onto the next key and slot, and loaded it. The keyloader (T3011DX) reported success (PASSED), but the Astro Saber boop-boop-ed and the following message was displayed on the screen:

KID/ALGID DUP
then
0/0003/0000

Now, I've played around a bit, and it would seem that:

1. All 4 different keys I've loaded actually work.
2. The keys work on both DES-XL analog and DES-OFB P25.
3. The non-CKR (PID) hardware key slots are setup correctly.

So I'm not so concerned about it, but any idea why this message would be coming up?

It's telling you why... you've duplicated a Key ID (the value you enter after the 8-byte key). The Key IDs need to be unique throughout the slots of the radio... that's what the radio uses to identify each unique key.

*smacks head*

I thought I'd entered unique KID's when I loaded my keys into the KVL, apparently not, since I redid the keys, reloaded, and now the error went bye bye.

Thanks for the tip! Problem solved.

No problem... I only know from reading the manual... I'd never do any such thing myself (yeah, right  )
