Please don't post the same question to more than one forum, it gets confusing and takes up space. Not only that, but then everyone that stops to read it might not all comment on the same post, which makes it difficult for us to track what others have posted about troubleshooting the problem.

I commented on the post in the General Forum with possible solutions to your problem.

Sounds like you hooked it up right. Do you get a low "booop" tone from the speaker when you attempt to key? That would be a good indication of TX inhibit.

There is a jumper that goes over the VIP port of the A7 maratrac style head.

There's 3 parts to this connector on the head -

1st section: control head -> radio
2nd Section: Mic -> control head
3rd section: needs this jumper.

I think this jumper has been posted before (which jumper is required that is) and should be searchable here - I'm just not sure off hand.

The VIP jumper shorts pin 20 PTT In to pin 37 PTT Out.

what is tx inhibit?

TX Inhibit means the radio is not allowing transmit, there is various reasons for this. A channel programmed with receive only, the orange lead is not powered and the radio is programmed to not allow transmit unless the ignition is on, etc.

In other words, it is inhibiting tx from happening.

as I recall.... there is also the "mod" for using a pac-rt which will disable the TX indicator. you might still be transmitting..just not knowing it ;)
