Minitor V For A Dummy

Hi guys,

I was turned on to this board from a member on another board. I'm a junior firefighter in Audubon, NJ, but I live in Haddon Township. Alot of times I have to sit by my scanner in order to even get lucky enough to get to a call ontime, and in any other case, there's really no hope. Quite a few of the juniors at my station have pagers, and everytime I ask about pagers at my station, I tend to get the same generic answer. Basically, they promise some are coming, but there are priorities.

But this is my question;

Is it possible and/or legal, to purchase my own Minitor V? If so, what would I need to do, in order to have it programmed to my station, and what type would I need? (Camden County dispatch is 154.430)

Thanks for any and all help.

Mike :oops:

You'd need to buy the Minitor 5, and have it programmed.

They are monitoring only device - so there is no problem unless your department specificly restricts you having one.

How much would buying one and have it programmed cost, though?

Don't know.

Talk to your local dealer. You can post a WTB here (following all rules in the FSWT forum of course) someone might be able to sell you one, and might do the programming for n/c. Who knows. ask around.

I think they are in the $400 range / pager, if you buy from a dealer, you might have some good luck with getting the programming for free.

You'll have to know your departments tones, you can't just run off to the dealer and be like "oh, put xyz department in" unless they happen to do all the radio equipment for the department.
