Hey Guys,
I've got a UHF, 16 CH GP300 (model # P94YPC20D2AA) portable with a DTMF keypad. I recently purchased the unit off of eBay, but have been unable to get the DTMF keypad to work. I've gone through the unit with our RSS at work, unfortunately I've been unable to locate where this feature can be enabled. Any ideas?
Thanks,

I don't work with GP300s, but in general Motorola radios are not like ICOMs and others, where all you do his press the key and then press digits in order to send the digit over the air. Rather, the function is designed around a telephone interconnect. In general, you want to do something like this:
Programming:
Pick the channel you want to send on.
Enable phone mode on that channel, via a button or menu item.
Enable live dialing for that phone mode.
Using:
Got to the channel in question.
Activate the phone mode.
Now press your DTMF keys.

Hey Guys,
From what I've been able to determine, the DTMF tone generation via the keypad is somewhat independent of the signaling system set up by the software.
After digging into things a bit deeper, it looks as if this was a stock 16-channel radio, that someone decided to slap a DTMF front panel on, but neglected to update the radio's code plug accordingly.
So the GP300 does not 'know' that there's a DTMF front panel installed. Once the code plug can be properly updated, things should function normally. That's the theory anyway.
If anyone has something to add, or suggest to this on-going saga, please feel free to drop me a line.
Thanks,
- trg,

Now I'm being told that the model number on my radio, P94YPC20D2, means it's a 25 khz wide band, 8ch portable. I'm beginning to the light, albeit very dim at first. Still looking for a solution. Any takers?
