GTX mobile BEEP!

Post by The Kreick »

Just picked up a GTX mobile at the Ft Wayne hamfest - all programmed up & working great, but the beep tome is REAL loud! I dont see anywhere in software to lower it - anyone had sucess in quieting the key-beep?

I had that problem on a CDM of mine because MDC-ID was set to Pre. I just lowered the alert tone volume(s) in the CPS and it fixed it up.

GTX beep tone...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

On my two GTX mobiles the beep tone only is heard when the radio
powers up and goes through the self check, and its level is a function
of how high I've set the volume when I turned the thing on, so I try to
remember NOT to turn the volume up. I've never looked in the program
to see what can be done about this. I never change the frequency in
the radio since we have only one repeater so after it powers up it never
beeps again.

All of my GTXs beep whenever I push any button. One high beep for channel up/down and MON, and a low beep for all the other, inactive buttons. I've never seen any adjustment for that; it's just generated by the microprocessor and fed to the audio amp.

As others have stated here as well; there are no 'adjustments' in the RSS to set or adjust beep tones or alert tones.

The sounds are generated internally and are 'controlled' by the volume pot setting upon P.O.S.T.

Simply turn on the radio with the VOL. pot at the lowest setting and you should barely hear any tones, then once the TST on the display goes back to channel indication, there should be no more sounds emitted except normal audio from on-channel traffic.
