We have two 2500 and two 5000 radios for evaluation. Using the factory USB cable I can read and program the 2500's just fine.
On two computers I get an error when trying to read the 5000's. One is running XP Pro SP2 amd the laptop is running Win2000. On my Dell in the Screen Room the radio says something about a keyloader.
The software and cable was just Fedexed from Motorola so I assume it is current.
Any ideas?

I'll bet it says something like "cannot load codeplug without Advanced Encryption Keys" or something similar to this. If so just keep on trying, I use XP pro and 2000 with my 5000's and always get similar CPS complaints, after a couple of tries and lots of #@%*& words coming from my office it usually takes the .CPG file.
Hey if it worked the first time and every time on any PC then it would be a Kenwood.

I forget the exact technobabble, but its a new security feature of the Astro25 radios (XTL/XTS). I thought it was geared towards trunked systems (unless that is what you are using it on), but it essentially locks out the radio to unauthorized CPS users.
Whoever loaned you the radio should be able to supply you with the key, unless someone turned it on - on them.
Advanced system keys are loaded into CPS by the ibutton dongle thingy.
