HT1000 bad deal...?

Post by motorola63 »

Hey everyone. I bought quite a few HT1000s and MT2000s from a seller on ebay. He said that all of the radios powered on but didn't come with any chargers or batteries... No problem, right?

So a few weeks pass and after many emails they arrive via UPS. I get them inside and put new antennas & batteries on them. Not one of the radios will power on...

I pulled one apart and it appears that the fuse is fine. I called this guy about two minutes ago and he just told me he tested them with a regulated 28V adapter... I about fell over... When I told him they were 7.5v radios, he said he didn't apply anything more than 12V to them... Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

First of all he's a ****stain.

With that out of the way, double check the fuses. Did you test them for continuity or just try to eye them?

They can be tricky. It's not always obvious when they are blown. The HT1000's will run all day on 12-14 volts. I don't recommend it but for a special project I did it and it ran (RX with occasional TX) for over a year straight.

Now, 28 volts is a different story. If he really did that then who knows what's wrong. I would start with the first voltage regulator I could find nearest the power connectors.
