It's definitely possible - low split UHF NSW State Emergency Service XTS5Ks (Australia) are all programmed up this way.

As for how to do it: No idea, sorry.

I am not sure about the XTS5000 (havent tried it) but the XTS3000 and Astro Saber allowed programming up to 477 without any software mods. In fact, i believe all band splits could be programmed plus or minus 7 MHz for those radios.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

With unmodded RSS, my UHF AS3 goes 403-506 and seems to lock all the way thru (at least on RX). Haven't taken it up higher yet since 470+ systems are a distance from me. CPS doesn't allow it however.

Dan, speak to Phil - I told him how to do this step by step a little while ago.
