Post by LELPM »

I have a spectra that will not scan and I am looking for the address to change in the bit banger software to make it do that. The radio originally scaned but now will not. Please help.

I am not trying to be a wise ass, but is the mic hung up and the clip grounded. Unless the radio is programmed to scan off hook, you need to ground the round metal piece on the back of the mic.

Mounting it on the plastic dash of a car won't make it work. It has to be metal ground. If that is your problem whewre the clip is on plastic, try running a wire to ground from the clip.

Sorry, guess I didn't specify... I can't turn scan on in lab or RSS for this radio.

This radio had scan before, but now it doesn't? What change did you make when the scan disapeared? Did you clone in codeplug or make any hardware changes?

I was trying to save a step by cloning another A7 (45 watt) trunk mount version into a dash mount model. I changed it back using bit banger to its original model number listed on the tag. D43KMA7JA5BK. This radio does zones, but I'm not intersted in that.. Just want to scan. No hardware changes were made just a clone for the radio info... and as far as I know it did scan.

Thanks

Brett

The only way to scan that radio is to set up zones then you can add 16 channels in each zone to scan. As far as I know that is all you can do but im sure if im wrong I will be corrected LOL

OK. When you cloned in the other code plug, you changed the MLM and Command board hex string to that of the other codeplug, which may have been an older series firmware.

Even though you change the model number in the MLM, you haven't changed the hex strings.

If your MLM is a v.6.11 or higher, load a string that is zone capable from the model specific moflag info on the Batlabs model page into both locations.

If its v6.10 or below, don't waste your time trying. It won't do zones.

Anything above about v3.0 will scan, if the hex byte is set correctly in the MLM and command board. But, that's one scan list, not one per zone.....
