GTX MOBILE Thinks its a Handheld

Somebody think they can explain this? On the bottom of the radio it says

M11UGD6CB1AN

However, when I read it via RSS, in radio information it says:

MODEL: H11UCD6CB1_N

What's with this?
If I write it back with frequencies will it work? At 3 watts...this is really strange.

Sounds like somebody blanked it with GTX LAB RSS & reinitialized it with the improper codeplug. I can't imagine it would work very well. It needs to be blanked & initialized with a proper model codeplug...then fully aligned.

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

GTX stuff...

An M is a mobile.
An H is a portable.
Both radios seem to run under the same RSS, so there have to be a
lot of similarities between the two types of radio, with the major
difference being the power.
Why don't you try loading an M11 codeplug into the radio and see if it
responds to the request for a change?

anyone got an 806-830 gtx codeplug I can try? I don't know the procedure on realigning the radio, although I doubt its correctly aligned as a handheld!

Misfit M11 radio...

Can you write a simple codeplug and then clone it into your
radio? My work with the 900 mHz version has taught me that
these radios are picky when you try to change the model, which
they won't accept with regular RSS, but when I use the clone menu
they will usually take the plug that I've just written, or loaded in to
the computer. The reason I have to do this is so that the radio's
MDF file gets rewritten for the ham bandsplit.

I'm thinking that no matter what you do the radio is still gonna be
looking for an H11 codeplug because of what someone did to it.

GTX porta-mobile...

What version RSS are you currently using to read/write to the radio?

Since you stated the radio is a mobile, but some golden screwdriver specialist programmed it as a portable, you'll have to try to undo what was done and create a fresh codeplug with the correct model and band split...if you can.

Email me and let me know what you are using, I may be able to help you here.
