RTX-4005B Part Question

Post by Steve Holland »

I have an Motorola RTX-4005B with a broke Audio Out Rotary Switch (MX/MT/A/B/C). I am looking for the part number for this switch. I do not have the manual for this unit. Does the manual have a list of parts?

My manual for the RLN4460C (the RTX4005B replacement) does not list any part numbers. Try going to Radio Shack and get a single pole, 4 position wafer switch. All that switch does is change load values in the audio circuit.

Steve,

I have a print for the conversion kit for the A model to make it a B model. It shows the switch as being a 40-80369B22. I can fax you a copy of the print if you need it.

When I built my home-brew version of the RLN4460, I bought just about all the necessary parts from DigiKey, including some very nice, sealed rotary switches by C&K (now ITT/Cannon).

As long as you match the internal configuration, mounting hole size, and respect the internal dimensions of the test set, you shouldn't have any trouble replacing that switch from non-Moto sources. Probably run you no more than $10 or so for the switch itself.

Happy hunting.
