Loose Ignition Relay Fuse in Buick

Just a heads up that new cars DO have wiring problems that if unnoticed, can cost you or your insurance company $$$'s. Recently installed a trunk- mount radio in a Buick which has the battery and fuse panel under the rear seat. Customer wanted ignition control of radio. Looked in fusebox for a good ignition spot (where have all the spare hook-up points gone?) and came across IGN RLY 3. The fuse was loose in it's socket. Worse than that was if this fuse was bumped AT ALL, the dash display is out, no crank, no nothin'. Anyway, got lucky on this one and notified the owner and they had it repaired. Remember what will always happen, "The last person who touches it, owns it". I was fortunate not to be blamed for "causing" this.

I ran into a similar problem on a GMC Envoy except it had a loose mini-ATC fuse in the fuse block.

They're making them cheaper and cheaper. The company I work for swapped to the fuses with the pigtails soldered on to them from the clip that went under one of the prongs of the fuse. Much more reliable and less chance of damaging the fuse block.
