Hi gang,
I am setting up some new Quantar's for use with our 6809 controllers. The manual describes the TSTAT output as active high, but I am getting a CONSTANT high on the TSTAT pin, regardless of the state of the transmitter. Of course, the RTIB's don't like that as they indicate a transmit condition when there is none. Have I missed a programming feature or a jumper setting somewhere?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

With the caution that not all system releases or versions operate the same, two things come to mind.

First, the firmware in the Quantar may be looking for TDATA from the controller at all times. When the channel is idle that would be disconnect word. Check your cables to be sure it is there.

If the station does not see data it assumes something is wrong. The station then asserts TSTAT which the controller sees as a problem: "TSTAT when not keyed" and accordingly it disables the channel.

The Quantar will also assert TSTAT if you "Access Disable" the station from either the front panel or the RSS. That way the controller won't try to use an unavailable channel.

It was a TDATA problem, caused by having the Intellirepeater adapter (RJ45-to-Amphenol, 58D82653X12) installed instead of the correct 58D82653X11 for 6809 use. I foolishly assumed all cabling and adapters were correct since this is a new site! Lesson learned!
