MDC1200 settings

Post by Ett1033 »

HT750/1250
I have my radios set to MDC pre and post. The pre is only so that I can get the side tone. I just can't get through to some people about cutting the first part of their tx out because they do not wait long enough to speak. So, I was forced into the side tone. What setting will virtually cut out the MDC packet in the begining, but let the post MDC come through clearly. Again, the pre is only so I can get the side tone. We use the post MDC to also signal the end of transmission.

There isn't one. You can make it not use PL/DPL for signalling but that would effect both pre and post ID.

I had the same problem with our FD. We don't even use PTT-ID but I enabled it on our Kenwood radios anyway. I set the pre-time for like 150ms. It is long enough that the ID is clipped by the repeater and the sidetone is just right for the voice to begin. Nobody ever hears the ID squawk and nobody is ever clipped.

Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

Thanks, I think we'll just live with the double squawk.

Since you'e using pre for the sidetone, it's IDing then anyway. So why the post also? That's a bit excessive, no?

Pre and post excessive, yes. But so many are trained that the MDC burst also signifys the end of transmission. I have reduced the DOS to 0 and it almost cliped out the whole pre burst, but still gives me the side tone. All is well.
Thanks for the assistance.
