I have just added a PA/Siren unit to my Astro Spectra but am having some trouble with the External Radio feature. The PA works fine. When I press the PA button it engages and gives me the option to adjust the volume. However, when I press the External Radio button the display flashes "External Radio," but it does not work. Also, the red light under the External Radio button will not go off. It remains on as long as the radio is on. Does anyone have any idea/suggestions as to what I can do to fix this problem?
I searched the forum archives and couldn’t find any discussions about this issue. This leads me to believe it could be a problem with my radio. I'm hoping that it’s something less serious, maybe a programming error on my part.
I don't have much experience with the PA/Siren unit so this may be something simple that I'm overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if memory serves...
you have to have a button to turn on the SIREN too (not just the PA, not just the EXTrad function)
be sure you have the default SIREN TONE to "manual" - not "WAIL".... or your neighbors will not like you.

Ext Radio
Hi Randy,
Batdude is right - "ExtRadio" is one of the "Siren" choices, along with wail, hi/lo, etc.. so pushing "Extradio" just sets the mode, then you press "Siren" to activate. If ExtRadio is all you need (besides PA) then program an unmarked/unused button to extradio and put the "Extradio" button in the position you program to "Siren". If you reprogram (or otherwise hard reset) the radio, remember to press the unmarked extradio button before U operate.
ExtRadio also puts all the beeps, etc out of the speaker - really makes folks jump...
