MDC1200 included in newer A/S firmware?

Post by craig »

Can anyone tell me if MDC1200 was eventually included in A/S firmware as a standard feature or do even the later Astro Sabers need to be specifically flashed for MDC1200? I am looking to encode/decode just about everything MDC1200 will do, including PTT-ID.

The A/S that I am looking at purchasing is H04KDH9PW7AN. VERSION; 07.03.00. DSP; 07.03.12 flash 500001-000000-8.

I seem to recall someone posting that a certain level of firmware automatically came with MDC1200, but I couldn't find the post in a search.

No, MDC was never a 'standard' offering for the Astro Saber/XTS3000 radios. It must be flashed for it.

I have plenty of Generic flash Sabers and XTS3000's with the plain jane 10001-00000-8 that will encode ptt id and emergency mdc1200 no problem. They will also recieve a call alert and page as well, without any fancy flash. These are all later model radios, i can provide some examples of host and dsp if needed.

I think this was originally an add on feature to get stat alert signalling, but may have been rolled into the conventional package later on, as you suggest.

You will need an enhanced flash to be able to page, call alert or recieve the ID on the display (Enhanced radio call protocall) and Display

That A/S Should do MDC without a problem, IMHO only.

Hmmm, I seem to recall the 800MHz units needed the flash, but the UHF / VHF ones didn't, now that you say that.

Yes todd you are correct. 800 does need a flash, most of the V and U radios I have seen that are later model will do it.
