The Plus has a different vocon, uses a ribless programming cable, and different software.

So can it be programmed with the most recent CPS for the Astro Spectra ?

No. You need to buy the Astro 25 mobile CPS.

So let me see if I understand this. Astro Spectra CPS version 4.00.01 will not read or program a Spectra plus. I was told that Astro Spectra CPS vresion 5.00.00 will. Is this correct ?

Version 5 would be an older version of Astro Mobile 25 (currently 6.someting) , which covers the Astro Spectra Plus.

Astro Spectra current CPS is 4.01.04, but will not program Astro Spectra Plus.

As pager Geek and I have both stated the Astro Spectra CPS WILL NOT program the Astro Spectra Plus mobile.

Also the Astro Spectra Plus uses a ribless cable. The Astro Spectra cable and rib box will not work.

ASTRO 25 Mobile software will program the radio, just fine. The major diference between the Astro Spectra and the Astro Spectra Plus is, front panel programmability, AES encryption capabilities and increased channel capacity, as well as Ribless programming.

Front panel programmability?

I thought only the XTS5000 with the Q52 option supported that?

Sure... that's the Q666 FPP option, restricted to TLAs and Cowthief only. :)

I thought another difference was that the Astro Spectra could only do Smartnet/SmartZone trunking, wheras the "plus" could do ASTRO25

Flashport upgrades are available for the Astro Spectra to operate on 9600 bps [Astro 25] systems, however, only the Astro Spectra Plus and XTL mobile products support the data and system features available on the Integrated Voice & Data [IV&D] system designs [6.05 and higher system releases].

Nope, the ASTRO Spectra plus will do conventional and trunking. FPP option can be sold to anyone who has a need. Currently government agencies are purchasing this option, also several public safety fire departments have purchased the option.
