HI there, does someone know how to transform a Saber 1 (midband) H42QXN7139CN into an Saber 2.
The saber 1 has an 6d Core, but I have a Frontshield of an Mx3000 (5d)
The software doesn't accept it!

The reason your RSS does not work, is the MX3000 is the EURO version of the Saber, they are not compatible.

Same goes for the front shield, if it's from an MX3K, it can not be programmed with N.A. versions of RSS.

Aside from that, all you need to take a Saber I to a II or even a III is a front shield swap with the proper memory, such as the old standard 8K.

With the proper shield/memory, you can take the model I all the way to a III without a hitch, plus if the CORE is 5D or newer, you will have other options available to use with the radio.
Ver. 7xxxx is probably the latest and greatest out there, but use what you have, it should work, but might not allow enabling specific features that were not available with that version of RSS.

ALWAYS keep the last two letters of the model number the same....'AN' MUST remain an 'AN' version, as well as 'CN' must stay the same and so on..

Front shields are not frequency dependant, they only store the info in memory, so you can use any working front shield/memory/display on any other like radio.

Simply install, program and go!

Yep, if you swap all the modules and re-align the radio... Otherwise no. You may be able to program it with a new codeplug for 146-162 or 146-174 but there is not guarantee as to where the VCO will lock beyond it's intended range. Also, the PA will be a problem above a certain point, i know it was with a couple that i swapped modules on.

If your going to go through all the trouble your better off just holding out and buying a 146-162 split radio and reprogramming it as a wideband 146-174 low power radio.

Though, you still have one minor problem. Most of the parts in a 146-162 will do the wider split without a problem, but the 2-pole and 5-pole filters are made specifically for each split. If you found a low power 146-174 you can pull the filters out and put them in a high power radio and have good performance across the entire 146-174 split.

I notice that my 146-162 radios do "ok" above 162 for NOAA weather, but up around 170 or so they are definitely deafer than normal.
