Look on the label it should have another number something Like T84xxxx.

It may say ID number. That should help you use the look at the model decoding page here on this site.

that is a 45 watt 800mhz trunking radio and you are missing a letter in that model number somewhere.

You have the wrong head on it. You are using an A7 head, and the radio is set up for an A9.

Max, check on the Spectra section on Batlabs.com. There are some ways mentioned there that may help you.

Some can be changed in the RSS, others require bit banging, ect;.

If you have a A4 radio box, how hard is it to change it to a A5 or A9? Could I just bit-bang it and be ok? Or do you need to load a new codeplug into the radio with a new MLM like a A3.

If you can read the radio, sometimes with an 'A9' radio, you can change the head type to enhanced (A5/7) or rotary (A4), Currently it'd be set for S9000e in the RSS in the radio-wide settings.

BitBang would work, or just change it in the RSS to Advanced, from Rotory.

I can not read the radio using a A7 head ,when i try to read the radio ,i get *error number 79 has occured can not access the S9000 control head*
and even to bit bang ,i still can not get into the radio using a A7 head.I guess i will have to get a A9 head and remote cable just to read the radio and then change it to Advance head ??

If you think you can program to the radio, try cloning in another radio, same band with an A7 head

You have to have a System 9000 head on the radio to read it, period. Once you do, you can go into F2 - Radio Wide Options and change the control head type. Or, as Josh pointed out, if you have a 45w 800 C5 or C7 codeplug, you can clone that into it. If you go that route, be sure to go into Service mode and write down all of your alignment settings so you can plug them back in.
