Just got a spectra A5 head, dashmount. Have channels programmed up, and want to enable zones, have MLM V6.15. Tried enabling zones and when I try to program says not enable. Also found the area to name zones and it keeps saying invalid entry when i try to name a zone 01, or 02 etc.

Have it connected with programming cable, receiving fine, but when I try to transmit it reboots. Do I need pin 5 with 12v for this to happen, and pin 4 disabled.

Its been a little while since I did one, but I believe you need to define zones before you program in the channels, or it won't work. Its a little wacky, but thats how I remember it. If you do a search on the board here, I believe someone posted the process a couple of months ago.

To create zones, you'll have to use the F3 CREATE ZONE feature, fill in the ZONE POSITION field (start with 01, then 02, etc), and press ENTER. Only a few versions of the Spectra software bother to tell you that ENTER is the "key" to creating a zone. When you press ENTER, the software will create the zone and name it 01, then you can do it again and it will name that one 02, etc. Once you've created a zone, you can go into the zone name field and change it.

Once the zone is created you can do the F2 MODE LIST thing and that'll put you on the ZONE MODE LIST page(s). At top left it will show "Zone 01". Use the tab key to step through the channels and the UP/DOWN arrows to select the channels and their scan status. F3 and F4 move you up and down through the zones.

Ok, have figure out the zones, programming them in now. The transmit problem might be my power supply, it works ok to transmit with my MCX1000 (great radio), but Spectra reboots when I transmit.

Reboot is typical of insufficient power. "More power, Scotty!"

What is the model #? I had the same problem with mine. I turned out that I was not using a big enough power supply. I had a Hi-Pwr model and it was too strong for my 25 Amp PS.
I dragged it out side in the middle of the night and hooked to the truck battery and it worked fine.

Hi-power requires a solid 26+ amps at 13.8V, so no need to 'splain why my 30 amp supply sweats like a pig with a 100+watter tied to it.

Got the zones in and scan setup but it won't let me set priority channel. on gives option from face of n-priority. What am i missing.

I figured out what I had done wrong, thanks for all the help.
