Ok.. and I'm sure I'm just overlooking something here.. my radio stops on my priority channel when ANY traffic is on the channel.. however.. the radio does not unmute unless it has the correct PL.... so my issue is that it's annoying for it to stop scanning on something else on the channel... what do I need to change to get it to stop ONLY for the correct PL on the channel?

Weird!
I ran into a bunch of oddball scanning problems when i had my Maratrac, but that's a new one on me.
Which version of firmware is in the radio? I noticed on one radio i had with an early firmware version that the priority scan didn't always work correctly.

Make sure you have carrier squelch scan set to disabled.

While I'd have to check to verify that this is typical of the Maratrac, what you have described (co-channel scan suspend without unmute on the priority channel) is also typical of A model Spectras. It has to do with how to deal with the time required to sample for valid tone after detecting valid freq., and the length of the audio hole you'd have on active non-priority scan list members if you took that time. This approach was deemed acceptable given that, at the time these radios were new, co-channel activity on public safety channels was considered unusual. For the current solution, see the description of "Channel Marking" in an MTSX or MCS2000 help screen or programming manual.
