I have 2 M10's together, duplexer and all in a repeater set up that I purchased. These are vhf, and, as you know, single channel radios. I have a programming question. The Receive radio for the repeater, I program that with the frequency that I transmit on with my portables, and nothing in the TX side of the channel, correct? Then, in the TX radio, I program that with the receive frequency and the transmit frequency? I think I explained it correctly.

M10#1 (Receive Radio)
RX: 153.830
TX: Blank

M10#2 (Transmit Radio)
RX: 153.830
TX: 155.760

Is this how I am supposed to have them programmed? Any help would be great.

The best method to use on the transmit side would be to program the TX freq. in the RX location as well, or there may be a possibility of the RX on the transmitter side to open prior to going into transmit.

Probably never happen, but why play games?


Repeater receiver:
RX: 153.830
TX: BLANK

Repeater transmitter:
TX: 155.xxx
RX: 155.xxx


That's the best way to eliminate troubles.

OR...you can remove the RX side of the cable in the transmitter and forget about all troubles.

Ok...I tried that earlier, and when I used my portable radio in direct (155.760 114., it keyed the repeater.

You can also program a DPL tone on the transmitter's receiver, that should remove the ability to transmit when you are in T/A mode.

No repeater should key with two users in T/A mode, recheck your connections here, there is a problem, or not enough shielding and you are getting RF into the controller to cause it to trip.

The output on this thing is great, but when transmitting from a portable/mobile to the repeater, the input audio is crappy. It's really choppy and staticy. Any suggestions?

What is inbetween the two M120's, a RICK or something else?

Check the jumper (JU551, I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong) in the RX radio, which sets Unmuted/Flat or Muted/De-Emphasized audio at the accessory connector. It needs to be set to Muted/De-Emphasized.

Another way to keep it from keying when you're talking simplex is to disconnect Pin 8 on the TX radio cable.

I believe a RICK. The unit does have a duplexer attached, and the repeater controls at the top to turn off the repeater function and the setup button. I really haven't opened up the cabinet yet to look inside. But they are 2 M10's together in a small cabinet with "GR300" at the bottom. Not a bad little unit.
