Making a MTS2000 Mod II into a Mod III

What is required to make a model II MTS2000 into a model III ?

if you don't need the keypad to work on the model 3 head, just plug it in and it'll work.

I need full MTS2000 Mod III capabilities including keypad.

I have a mod II that i want to upgrade.

you could try using a dtmf mic, that should give you all the functions of the model 3. that's what i use on my model 2.

just remember the toolproofing issue with MTS controllers with a version higher than 5.42.

DTMF mic on an MTS portable? This radio in question for the upgrade is an MTS and not an MCS right? Also, what is the firmware version of your radio, and what band is it?

There are instructions on the Batlabs MTSX page for adding the extra buttons using (EVILBAD) Lab RSS. Like RAV said, however, if your controller version is greater than 5.42 you can't do anything with it in Lab without "toolproofing" it and are essentially SOL.
