I see a few of these out there, was considering getting the UHF version but it seems like there's a lot of modded radios out there, someone selling a full keypad radio with a limited keypad model number etc.

With a charger, what should one expect to pay for a good used radio?

Thanx

Selling a full keypad radio with a limited keypad model number? I believe they are the same model number. And anyways you can easily add a full keypad with a refurb kit to a limited keypad radio if you so desire.

Haven't been following the prices but limited keypads are A5's full are
A6. BUT as pointed out in the last thread the conversion is done simply by
changing out the cover and enabling the function. No real 'hacking' is required. These have so far shown to be fairly mod-proof radios so hack jobs aren't really much of an issue. What is an issue is some folks have been re-labeling export versions as US models (you need a radio with a model # that starts 'AA') and early versions without firmware upgrades can be quirky.

Model # on what I'm trying to get is AAH25RDF9AA5AN, so I guess that makes it American.

If I manage to get the radio cheap enough, I still need to get a reliable programming cable, preferably a RIBless one from ebay that I can throw on a P4 with XP.

I'm new to programming radios, and since I don't have a radio to hook up, the CPS window seems extremely baren. Looks like programming is done through code writing rather than menu choices? I dunno.

I do know If I can get one, I don't want to fry it myself.

ALso not sure if I can get it programmed by our shop at work or if a LMR will program if for me. Need commercial Freqs.

Thanks for the help out there guys, I'll definitely be back for some programming help if I can get one :)

Thanx again

Make sure you get the serial number as well as the model number before you buy. There should be two white stickers on the back of the radio.

Before you buy on eBay you might want to try the Equipment For Sale/Wanted/Trade forum here. I find the prices and quality are better. Nice people too.

well I already bought... but others here have stated the model number I posted should be the 128 version, we'll see if the full keypad is on it or not. Can't bee seen in the ad.

Got the Radio, Ant & Charger for 232.00
