Hi,

Is it possible to convert / reprogram my two Saber 3 (H43QXK7139CN) 136-150 mHz to (H33QXK7139CN) 146-174 mHz ?
I bought these radios and I need to program frequencies until 159.990 mHz in it!
Is it possible? I read some things in batlabs, but my software refuses to program the radio (core 6D instead 5)!
How can i proceed to progarm it? does it exist a special modified RSS?

Thank you!

Greetings Franz

What version RSS are you using?

If it's too old, you will not be able to program the radios either way, you'll have to get updated RSS if you have version 3 or something of that era.

You 'may' get the radio to program at those ranges, but I doubt you will get it to TX or RX, as the modules in the radio are not designed for the mid split ranges, open the radio up and look at the numbers on the modules, they will tell you what band split they are capable of operating in.

NLD8180/NFD6091A: Rcvr/5-pole filter, 136-150.8 Mhz.(retained under this module, disassembly required)

NLD8180/NFD6092A: Rcvr, 5-pole filter, 146-162 Mhz.(same as above)

NLD8201x: Synthesizer, 136-150.8 Mhz

NLD8210x: Synthesizer, 146-162 Mhz.

NFD6111x, 2-pole filter, 136-150.8 Mhz

NFD6112x: 2-pole filter, 146-162 Mhz.

NFD6131x: Filter/Detector/Switch(FDS) 136-150.8 Mhz.

NFD6132x: F/D/S, 146-162 Mhz.

NLD8121a: RF PA, 136-150.8 Mhz, high power, 6 watts(NEVER program to max)

NLD8773x: RF PA, 146-162 Mhz, high power, 6 watts(NEVER program to max) The earlier number for this part was: NLD8122x, same part.

Listed above are for the VHF radios only, you can not swap UHF modules with VHF modules, there is a difference, the Rcvr module(U4) also looks completely different and mounts to the controller board differently as well.

This is all the info you should need to get your radios to work in the band split you require.

If you need further assistance, my contact info is at the bottom of this post and I'll be happy to assist you.

The version 7 of the RSS will do it, you just have to create a codeplug from scratch, create .rpf file, yada yada...

But, it's not worth it, i'm going through this right now. I have a low split radio that i programmed with a mid split codeplug, it only locks half the time, 50/50 chance of it, above 152, and it's deaf as a post higher up.

You really need to swap the modules or find a different radio.

Ver 7 will do perfectly, as the previous gentleman stated, you will have to create a NEW codeplug and add your frequencies then align the radio...AFTER you swap the low split modules with the ones for 146-162 Mhz. as what I posted earlier, those are the modules you will need in order to get the radio set up properly and aligned as well.

Just use those modules for the 146-162 Mhz. split, they are the proper ones you will have to install.
