SYNTOR 9000 WITH OLDER PAC/RT

I am trying to install a older pac/rt with my 9000, I have the proper cable and external switch. It is a lowband mobile with a uhf pac/rt. I pluged everything together(according to the 9000 web site, checked jumpers,everything) and nothing. This is an older Motorola pac/rt, I would think the older unit would be more plug & play than the newer model.
Suggestion would be very helpful. :oops:

Did you program a Button to turn the repeater on and off? on mine there is a button programmed to turn the pac on and off. Should be able to look in the control head programming and see.

Just a thought

Mike, you are thinking about the VRS, which is a Systems9000 accessory. Golden is talking about the older PAC/RT, which is not. Without building an interface of some sort, you would not be able to control a PAC unit through a Systems9000 radio's control head.

Golden, the first thing I have to ask is, what are you calling 'the proper cable'? Are you sure you have a PAC to X9000 cable, and not a PAC to X cable? They would both have the same plug on the radio end of the cable, but are not interchangable. Does the radio still work normally with the PAC hooked up? If not, I'd say that it is definately the cable.

Next question, are you sure the PAC is good? Got another radio to try it on? Maybe a local friend or MSS that will check it for you for free or for cheap? One thing you may want to check is the fuse in the PAC. It is a pico-fuse, looks like a green resistor. IIRC, it is located behind the interconnect plug (the one the cable going to the radio plugs into) on the main board.

If you can't get it working from this, give us some more info, such as cable part numbers, exact details of your wiring (a diagram would be very helpful), etc...

The pac set works with a another system. It seems that no power is going to the pac. I will look at the cable mod. number this evening. There is just something missing. The interconnection with the radio is;
radio, pac cable, siren/pa cable, power cabe. The radio works fine in this setup, so does the siren/pa system, but the pac/rt does not.
Thanks,
Golden

Hm. I have to wonder at this point if maybe the cable is bad? Well, maybe I'm getting the cart ahead of the horse. Lets see what the model number of the cable is first, then we'll see if it's bad!

I think I found the problem. you guys were right, the cable. the cable is NKN 6375A which is for a syntor x, it should be a NKN 6371A. for a 9000
I will keep you all posted.
thanks,Goldie :o

Are you gonna try to find the proper cable, or mod that one to work with the X9000? I'm kinda surprised that it didn't effect the operation of the radio any.

Should be able to re-wire the cable for the X9000. I did that once, but i don't remember all the pinouts. I think i found the info over on Mike's website.
