Way to look up & ID Motorola Model #'s
Hi I have a model numebr for a Motorola Maxtrac ( #D44MJA77A3CK) I'm tring to find out any details I can about the radio such as freq band, channels etc. Is there any online data base or website that I can compare the numebrs to? Thanks
You can have a 32ch radio only show 1 ch if you want.
You have to program it and "add mode".
If it has the 16 pin board, it will do 32ch (or can be made to).
Look at the accessory connector on the back.
If it has the 5 pin board, then 16 is the max. (normally)
You need to read it with RSS to see how it is set up.

Is it a 16 pin or 5 pin accessory jack on the back? The full signalling capable radio, 32ch, is a 16 pin logic board. Though i have seen one 5 pin board that supported some signalling features also, but it's not as common.

Ok, then your in luck! A 16 pin radio if it's not already so can be upgraded to full signalling and 32ch's.
Your going to have to read it with RSS and see what you have to begin with. If it's not full signalling now then it just needs a firmware upgrade, blank and reinitialize, and you got a maxed out Maxtrac.. LOL

The model number D44MJA77A3CK also tells me it's a 6-channel radio. Not all channels need to be programmed. Usually, but not always, a 6ch radio won't have scanning capabilities or the buttons/labels on the control head. A 16-pin logic board will let you have more channels and scanning, but you might have to do some work with the control head (add a button, change the escutcheon) to do the entire job properly.
