Saber SI - what is it? And which RSS to use?

Hello all;

I'm looking for info on something called a "Saber SI". I remember finding info on them here somewhere, but a search brings up 3112 references to the term, so the search obviously even matches partial words. Anyway... what the hell were they? And did they have their own RSS, or did they use Astro RSS?

Thanks again!

The Saber SI is an 800MHz Saber. Although it looks like an Astro Saber, that's as far as it goes. It has its own RSS (don't have the part number off hand, but I believe its in the new RSS/CPS fourm).

Essentailly, it was an interm product and had a short life.

It was an analog 800 MHz radio that looked like an Astro Saber. Had it's own RSS, but I beleive you can use MTSX LAB to program them (not sure about that).

I've heard that they are very flaky.

A belated thank you for you help, guys. It's great that you can usually find someone who knows about even the most offhand, obscure hardware here.

Thanks again.

Is the controller the same physical size as a Jedi too?

If so, is it possible to throw an MTS2000 controller and RF deck in there?

An MTS2000 in an Astro Saber body would be pretty smooth.

No. The boards and modules are Saber-like, not Jedi-like.

I beg to differ. 3 years ago I saw 3 UHF Saber SI's. I know they don't exist so I asked the seller [with friends in hi places at Moto] what these were. He said Moto only made the SI in 800 but he replaced the 800 rf board with Jedi UHF rf board. They worked perfectly on UHF. Just passing on what he told me. 73'S GARY N4KVE

Well I'll be darned. I guess I never really opened mine up the short time I had it. Heck, I may have kept it had I known!
