X9000 SP99 Receiver Only Q

I know that there is a UHF SP99 X9000 floating around that is a receiver only, all the components are not in there, as described on Mike's website.

But is there a VHF version?

The reason i ask is i am looking for a cheap X9000 receiver, it doesn't need to have any PA or whatever else the SP99 units are missing as it will never be used for transmit. Thinking of using it as a scanner really so i can seperate out my ham band and commercial stuff. Yeah i could buy a scanner, but i like the idea of having another X9000 control head controlling it.

I'm going to convert my Spectra in the house to a remote mount with A9 head for ham band stuff to clear up some space at the operating position. Stacking two A9 heads and hiding the radios away would be cool. The reason i'm thinking X9000 is because the Spectra can only scan 16 lousy channels.

Or, and this is probably a stupid offer, if someone wanted to trade a complete X9000 VHF 100w, radio, head, and cable, for an A7 Spectra let me know. I might just swap the Spectra for the X9000 instead of converting it since that would work good for my use also.

Yes there is! The Washington State Patrol had a dual radio setup. I believe they used the X9000 as a reciever for their home area and the Spectra for the selected channel. They had one michrophone with a rocker PTT button. Push down talked on the home channel and a push up talked on the selected channel. Plus they had two speakers for audio. I'm sure the software was a special version. Good Luck!

I'm mainly just looking for a VHF SP99 receiver to just connect to 1033 head and run it as a glorified scanner.

That is unless i come across a good deal on another complete X9000 100w VHF and i will just use that in place of the Spectra.

Only being able to scan 16 channels on the Spectra drives me nuts!
