Hi folks!
Two questions...
Can a GP300 do DPL?
I have a SM-50 that I can't get to work... The programming seems to work fine, and the codeplug data looks fine, but the unit has the channel number flashing red in the display. Any idea what that means?

the 300 can do dpl. when something is flashing red that means it's wrong or outside of the split. what is the model number on the radio and what frequency are you trying to put in it?

It's an M44DGC20A2AA. Trying to put 466.375/461.375 and 464.550. I have another unit just like it that programmed fine. I tried to clone from one to the other too, but to no avail. Could it be something like moisture got into the board and has some traces conducting? Or maybe a bad PLL oscilator crystal? Will that cause this type of problem? Thanks,

those frequencies should fit in that radio. now i'm thinking somebody's hacked the radio out of band down to like 440. hold the shift key down and type in the frequencies and see if it lets you enter it that way. can you read the radio? what frequencies are in it now. that radio should only be able to take 450-470mhz, if it's above that or below someone has altered it but read it first and let me know what's already in it.

Don't think it was hacked... Was from a school bus bunch of radios... It had the same frequencies as the other radios in the group... Um... 464.175 and 469.xxx/464.xxx repeater.... Can't remember off hand...

Just found out something interesting.... The transmitter on this rig TRIES to work, or at least at the first stage. I can pick up a signal... very weak, on frequency, with PL or DPL, on the assigned frequencies. The channel number goes solid red with mic key. But no power output out the back. Also, the little yellow speaker indicator never goes out. Even if I ground the mic for tone squelch. The board looks very clean inside. I may just have to order a manual... sigh...

it needs to be put on a service monitor and checked.

If that mobile is going into transmit, but not actually transmitting, you might have a VCO that's failing to lock, that will stop the radio dead.

No transmit, and no receive either, but in Rcve, the VCO probably locks well enough to allow the receiver to function, but at a reduced level.


But getting to the GP300, yes, it will do DPL with ease..same radio as the P110, only a different case.

Even the GTX is in the same class as the GP300, same radio frame, different frequencies..
