HI ALL
I have a xts5000III UHF low band. The radio programed with the ASTRO25 cps v05.00. BUT I have only the CPS V4.01 software that can not read the radio.
Is there any way to program the radio with the 4.0 CPS?

You would need CPS V05.00 or higher in order to read/write from/to the codeplug. This is Motorolas way of keeping you comming back for more of the software they market. Most of the radio shops have a subscription so each time an updated version comes out it gets mailed to them.
Sorry - I know thats not what you wanted to hear but thats it.

Yep, they must have got that idea from Bill Gates!
Other than improvements to the software though, i don't think a later version is always necessary, if it ain't broke don't fix it. But since someone else already programmed it with a later version your stuck.

You can always write a program using your 4.0, and over write the program in the radio.
The only way the radio must use the later version of CPS is when the repair depot works on it, they upgrade the firmware, and there you must use the later version of CPS. M

Correct, there is no way to create a codeplug from scratch in Astro25 CPS.
You need CPS with a version number equal to or greater than the last programmed version number. Current CPS is up to 7.00.00 for this line of radios.

If you have a codeplug that has the same flashcode and model number, and you can read it in using version 4, then you can fix this.
Just load the codeplug and clone it into the radio using the clone menu.

this has worked for the ASTRO Protable/Mobile, but the ASTRO25 software from what I have seen, closes this loop hole
