on my RIB one of the pin on the 25pin side has broke off
how easy should that be to fix or should i get someone else to repair it that knows what they are doing for sure? Thanks, Donnie
It should be quite easy to replace. I'd suspect it's just a right-angle DB25M connector that might cost $2 or so from Mouser or Jameco.
As long as the person doing the job is careful and removes all the solder from the holes (a vacuum desoldering tool would work well), they could probably get the old one out intact. If not, the leads could all be cut off the connector, then pulled out individually. Would probably take less than half an hour.
Which pin is broken off? There are a lot of unused pins on that connector, if it's one of those you can just leave it. I think there's a rib schematic on the batlabs site, you can check to see if the missing pin is used.
yes it is an original Moto RIB, its pin #1 on the 25 side which is very important! i may get back to you on fixing this. what would a rough figure be on repairing this. thanks for the help!!
A post like this always brings Monty to mind. He was one of the first to chime in on a RIB repair issue.
We are still thinking (and missing) you Monty.
