hello there..
I've recently purchased a couple of these radios, and i'm now figuring out how to use them
Is there no way i can enter different frequencies into the radio (to receive these) without spending $$$ on a RIB + cables + software ?
Where would you guys suggest i buy these items, cheapest - but off cause in a quality that is sufficient ?
that was all for now, but i'm sure i'll make up new questions later on
thx

The HT600E is the Euro version of the MT1000 and programs with the MT1000 software. I used to have a VHF and UHF 99ch that were HT600E's.
The only way to program them is getting a RIB, cable, and software. Or having someone do it for you. There is a cloning procedure that can be done as well on the Genesis series radios, but i don't recommend it, too many people have killed their radio with a failed clone, though they are recoverable if you know how to.
If nothing else, rather than spend the money on all the stuff to do it yourself just get someone to program them. I could gladly do it for less than your going to spend to get all the stuff you need to do it yourself. At the least your looking at around $60 for a good RIB if you build the Sandy Ganz design in kit form, you buy a blank PCB and then you get a parts list to order from. The cable can be made from an audio accessory adapter or a speaker mic cable with a lot of time and patience to drill holes and reassign the pins. The software is expensive from Motorola, i would imagine they still sell the MT1000 software, but there is a lot of licensing to go through to even get to the point of paying for and receiving the software.
And on top of all that your going to have to dig up a slow computer. DOS only, 486 vintage or older, and your set. The MT1000 software's latest revision will actually run on a Pentium class machine, but a lot of the older Motorola software won't and your better off having a slow machine anyway for future use.

I got a HT600E VHF in "A" version, but I found that the switch at the top only got 2 positions not 3 position. And I cannot input scan list even I set it scanable in RSS. Why

OH.................thanks radiosouth and kb0nly.
I got one HT600E and MT1000. I find the the the audio output in the HT600E is larger than the MT1000 at the same level (than means the position of the volume at the at location). Which part in the RSS to change the setting?

The audio level difference is due to the resistor value used between the controller and the speaker in the front panel. At least on a few that i compared, the euro HT600E had a lower value resistor soldered to the speaker terminals. I don't remember the actual values, etc. But i know the Euro version was a smaller value.

I don't remember off hand if that is even changable in the Genesis series, but it should be under the 'service' screens ('F2' from the main menu of the RSS) if it is.

Hi William, if you are using the MT1000 RSS:
Connect radio to RIB and PC.
Switch radio on.
Run the RSS.
F3 - Get/Save/Program.
F2- Read Radio.
F10 - Return to main menu.
F2 - Service: alignment.
F3 - Squelch and Volume alignment.
Top right hand corner: VOLUME.
Highlight Volume and hit F1 for an explanation help page.
F10 - Exit help....
