Spectra Signalling Options

What kind of signalling options are available to me using Spectra radios? What type of signalling will allow me to take advantage of the Horn/Lights option on the spectras.
What I would like to do is after several attempts to call someone with no answer. I would like to send a signal to the vehicle to turn on the Horn/Lights to alert someone that I am trying to get ahold of them.
This will be used on a ranch that is about 15 miles from the nearest neighbor so the anoyance factor is very low.

Ok, Turn on MDC 1200.
How about the relay for the Horn/Lights? Went by Radio Shack today and picked up a 30 amp 12V Auto Relay SPST N.O.. The part # was 275-0226. Specs say Pull in voltage of 6V and a Drop out voltage of 3.6V. Nominal current is 160mA and coil resistance of 66 ohms. Will this work as a relay for the accessories connector? Was going to hook up pins 4 and 3 for the horn.

Yes that relay should work OK.

Depending on the Spectra MLM version the signaling could be DTMF, and or MDC decode call alert.

John,
that is correct the MDC is a four bit ID, 0-9 and A-F are the only allowed char.
