Motorola CPS License

Post by twowaytekk »

Is there any individual here who has managed to buy the CPS software from Motorola? I have the basic license, but they won't approve the "restricted" license. Are there any suggestions on what they want?

Thanks,
Mark

I recently purchased MTSX, Pro CPS and Astro Portable CPS. With their basic license I was able to purhcase Astro Portable and MTSX software. I had to get another license for the professional CPS. As long as you sign the license agreement you are able to get the software. They did ask me for the serial numbers of the radios I purshased and what company I purchased them from which they attempted to verify. The MT2000 I was purchasing the MTSX for were purchased by a company that went out of business. I told them that I had the original invoice but they did not want it. The EX500's and the XTS5000 were purchased at the end of 2005 and may have not made the system yet. Either way they took my word for it. Also I did not purchase the software for me, I purchased it for my company. On the application which I did on the web I listed my reason for purchase as a end user maintainer. There was even a check box for it. Other than a couple of minor hold ups the license process and purchase went fine.

Good Luck,

Mark

What radios do you own?: Too many!

I'm an individual and purchased the Astro 25 CPS a while back. It was a pain in the butt, but it was worth it. They did not ask me anything about my XTS5000, just that they thought it was strange that I was using a very expensive radio for HAM use.

I started to get fed up with them transferring me from one place to another, so I started writing peoples names down that I talked to and when the next person would say, "I'm going to transfer you", I'd start giving them the names of all the people I've talked to and their answers. They must have given up, 'cause they sold me the CPS.

This was all done via snail mail. They didn't give me access to MOL until AFTER I had my CPS disk in hand. I suppose it would be easier for someone that already has MOL access and doesn't have to spend hours on the phone to find the person who has the original CPS agreement...
