Motorola stubby 900 mHz HT antenna...

I just found an eBay auction (5867893679) that appears to show
GTX900 portables with a stubby antenna. I'd like to find out if
Motorola makes/made such a unit for this radio. I have a 900
mHz short antenna for the GTX but it does not work all that
well. Any advice/info appreciated.

They do make that antenna. Its a stubby 800/900MHz with SMA connector. Moto part number: 85085241U06

I checked MOL and they state that it is 800/900.

I have one of those useless stubbies, and while they do work, they leave much to be desired!
There isn't even an actual SMA connector on mine, it's a hole that has the antenna element encased in plastic running to the base to contact the pin in the radio...pretty shoddy if you ask me.
Reception is on par with any stubby in the 900 band and does alright in high signal areas, but it is not the choice for distant systems as the antenna lacks the ability to effectively radiate a signal.
I get far more picket fencing even while on a slow walk, so I took it off and it now rests in a drawer in the shop(antenna coffin).

Way back when I asked about this I eventually found a
nice one that works from Jeff Walsh before he closed up
his shop in Texas. I only use it at hamfests and it
probably does stink for repeater use but who cares?
