Has anyone done a band limit hack and used a range 3 uhf astro spectra (450-482) for rx only on t-band stuff up in the 506-512 range? I know that is asking alot but since its not needed for tx I thought I would ask if anyone has done it and how it works. This would be for monitoring an astro system btw.

Thanks

I would say no. The VCO unlocked on mine past 490 MHz. They will work up to 488/489 with about .08mV reduction in sensitivity and maybe a watt or two less on transmit.

Did your VCO unlock due to tx or rx, or both? I'm just looking at rx, channels would be set as rx only.

Yes, it unlocked on RX. And even if you could get it to stay locked, the RX prefilter starts to drop off pretty quick past 489. So pretty much, if you're looking to listen in the higher reaches of the T-band, you're going to need a true range 4 radio.
