Ihave a 2004 F250 Crew Cab Lariat (40/20/40 bench front seat). I have an A-9 Spectra, an MCS2000, and a Saber convertAcom to put in it. Maybe a Lo-Band Orion if there's room.


Ideally, I'd like to mount the body of the radios under the front seat because the rear seat has metal fold-outs under it for cargo. I am looking for a professional-type mounting console, but I have not been able to locate one for the "big" Ford trucks...Just the F-150.

I'd love to see some pix from intalls in F250s...

Any ideas?

You didn't mention if the truck had a manual or auto transmission.

What I have done was to make a frame that fits under the rear fold down section on the drivers side in my extended cab version. The 2 radios just fit there with the seat down. Put the third radio on the floor, so the leg room right behind the driver is limited.

I used a Gamber Johnson console between the dash and the front seat. Just means you can't have a person sitting in the middle in front very comfortably. They kind of have to put a leg on each side of the console. Being very rare for me to carry 3 in the front seat it's an I don't care.

Actually, you can mount remote trays to the bottom of the metal plate on the rear seats easily, without interference to the seats flipping capability nor the passenger comfort. I've done this on 3 F150's already. The small seat on the drivers side works great for strobe supplies as well!

Rick, do you have any pictures of your F150 installations? I'm about to tackle mine. The biggest problem I see is mounting the drawer, and I'd be interested to see how you did it. It is a 2004 FX4 Super Cab. The intent is to use a 110w A-9 Spectra, but I might use a lower power radio.

In my F250, I used a SRC11S console from http://www.dandrelectronics.com. It worked out pretty well, but I'm not sure if it would hold all of the equipment cophamguy mentioned. I never took a picture of mine. I still have the console, but it is about an inch too long for the F150.

I don't have any pics, but I put in a 110watt A9 spectra unit with siren on both. Pull the rear plate out of the truck (detach the 4 screws holding the cushion side on, then the 4 on each end and finally the 2 17mm bolts on the backside), turn the plate upside down on your bench or tailgate, lay your spectra and siren unit (or other drawer unit) sideways (spectra radio drawer connector pointing towards the passenger door to make programming or cable changes easier) adn the other unit pointing the opposite way, space them about 1-1.5in. apart heat sink to heat sink, then I put glue-on wire tie mounts down the back side for routing as well as the power distribution blocks, then run your remote cable out the hole on the passenger seat stand and under the molding (which just pulls up) to the front, up behind the glove box and come out along side the floor heat to the trans. hump. I used a 6x6" flat mount plate with a 12" piece of rought iron and another plate welded on the top for mounting control head brackets to. If you are doing more radios, you can also do this same idea on the smaller 'jump' seat.

btw it is an auto transmission. I am going to take a look at that console and i like the idea of putting the remotes under the rear seat.
