I figured if anybody knew the answer to this question it would be you guys/gals. I'm not into scanners that much. Have owned a couple over the years. Is there a handheld scanner that covers most of the bands and has alphanumeric charecters and even PC programming abilites?
I'm not sure if this post is even allowed becuse I know this is not a Motorola Specific question...
Thanks

I still have wood for my BC246T. For $210ish, it rules all that is analog. The BR330T is newer and supposed to be all that the 246 is but with expanded band coverage. The price is comperable. It also has race track features, if you're into that.

Thanks for the replies...the pro-96 is way out of my price range...nice reciever for the features...but I'm just looking for something that will cover most bands...does not have to be trunking...since most of the area around here is still coventional...but something that is PC programmable and has alpha ability for a reasonable price would be nice.
Scanners beat having to carry around a bunch of portable radios in the various bands since all I really need it for is recieving

Pro-97....It has just about everything the Pro-96 has except the digital decoding. It's a fairly new model. Goes for 200 bucks. 150 when on sale.

hell, if thats all you're looking for, I have a scanner NIB, used maybe 2 times, I bought it for my mom, but she never used it.. I just programmed it...it's been sitting in a box for about a yr.. how's 90$ shipped??
it's a PRO-something.. whatever was current last year, conventional, covers ~29mhz-1Ghz, minus military air, and cell.. IIRC
