CP200 Firmware and CPS Compatibility

I understand that once you program a CP200 with a newer version of the CPS software you can’t go back. My question is about the firmware version in the CP200 that ships from Motorola. Can the latest CP200 from Motorola be programmed with the old R01.00 software out of the box? I only have R01.00 now and don’t want to upgrade.

Of course if anyone has info on how I could “obtain” later software (like R05.04 for example) then that would be great but that is not the goal here.

I don't believe so, Ralph. The customer release notes accompanying the latest CPS, R05.04.00, say that if you read a codeplug version R04.00.00 with an earlier version of CPS, you will receive error message #2411 - codeplug is corrupted.

As you obviously know by your first sentence above, upgrading involves purchasing the CPS from Motorola direct. Asking how to circumvent that in your next sentence is a flagrant violation of our policy regarding asking for RSS/CPS here on the board. A warning shall be issued under your user name, and the thread is now locked.
