I am a new user on the AWIN system here in Arkansas (statewide P25 astro system- 9600bd control, all digital) http://www.radioreference.com/modules.p ... B&sid=3918 (radioreference.com linkage). We have the follwing radios being fielded in our area...

My questions-
1: Encryption is not being listed as part of the flashcode using the flashcode decoder on radioreference.com, but the boxes and the service info on radio startup list "secure- adp" as an option, and one of the buttons when pushed on the mobile displays CKR on the screen (referring to common key reference???). So, does it uses encryption or not? And/or what is it capable of on this flash?

2: Can someone point me in the right direction about the service info on startup? I press home x5 and it spills its guts about the host and dsp, etc. I under stand the host and dsp, the next- "Secure-adp" see above. And then "ch 31" ??? etc, etc...

3. What are the "1B2" and 1B3" items in the flashcode?

hardware ADP is still VERY new. Your radio is CAPABLE of encryption using ADP - it's probably selectable either by button or programmed on a per-mode basis (i.e. some channels might be forced into encryption)

what is it you want to do? the service mode you are talking about is for obtaining the specifics of the radio (as you have found) and then the radio will roll into it's test channels - which are simply pre-programmed modes with different frequencies and signalling options to perform an alignment without reprogramming the radio. you really don't need to worry about this stuff unless the radio has some kind of problem.


3. What are the "1B2" and 1B3" items in the flashcode?

this is the (current) inability for the flashcode decoder to successfully decode the newer radio flashcodes. for example, hardware adp can either be a flashport, software-only option, or (as in your case) it can be hardware based and require a keyloader to load.

the flashcode decoder will be updated in due time - it just takes a while to get the option decodes worked out right.

So it has software based ADP encryption which is the "weakest" of the available schemes.

The service info isn't that critical, I figured out most of it...

The "fireground voice" was news to me- had not heard of that- is the Q446 the same thing that is included n the Q806 option? or is it something separate? I noticed Q445 "fireground accountability"- do those two rely on each other or is the Q446 simply the channel announcement feature?

What does Q446 fireground voice actually do?

In a nutshell, it lets you load voice files in the radio and assign them to the channels. When you change the channel or program a button for channel announce, the radio will play the voice file.

Let’s say Chan 1 is your main dispatch channel. You would create a voice file to say "Main Dispatch". When the radio is turned on or switched to Chan 1, the radio will play the audio file as as if someone was speaking "Main Dispatch".

Keep in mind that when you create a .WAV file, it has to be converted (compressed) through the radio into a .MVF (Motorola Voice File) in order to import it and use it in the radio. Hope this helps sum it up in a nutshell.

You dont actually need the fireground voice option to get that functionality. None of the XTS 2500/5000 I've taken delivery of have that option unless its part of the SZ package and I've programed many voice channels in.
