how do i know if i have a secure module installed in my system saber. when i press the ptt button a continous beep is heard. does it mean its lost its programming.
please help

You could always open up the saber. (losen the two retaining nuts and pull the antenna connector, then lift the protective shield)

All system sabers are secure capable & REQUIRE either a secure module or a bypass module installed. If you get the constant beep in both the secure mode and the clear mode, I would suspect the VCO not locking properly.

[/b]Continuous tone heard with PTT depressed and NO TX light, most likely means the VCO is unlocked, either from out of range info stored in the codeplug, or it is defective...I'd wager it's the codeplug info.

If you had no module sin the radio, either a 'live' or bypass, you would hear no audio from the speaker.

If the toggle on the control top was switched to 'secure', and there was no valid key stored, your display would read: KEY FAIL and double beep over and over.

A bypass module would simply give you the beeps.

If your codplug info is valid, and saved; reprogram the radio again to see if the VCO locks the second time around, but if not, run the alignment part of the RSS and look at the settings if you can.

To get the radio's current alignment settings, the radio has to be able to be read, then enter the service portion and take a peek at what's currently stored in the radio.

The continuous tone when you key up could also mean TX disabled on the channel. All my system sabers make that continuous tone if I try to key up the radio on a PS frequency I have disabled TX on. You should read the radio with the computer and check the frequencies you are on. Make sure TX has a frequency and is not blank.
