HT1250 Antenna Question

Hey Guys,

Need your very knowledgable and respected advice... I am running a HT1250 VHF Model Full Keypad and I need a new antenna. I have a long stubby antenna now that I'm using and its getting alot of breaks in the black seal around the and is really starting to look crappy. I most times keep my radio on my side with a shoulder microphone. I just have the basic antenna....

Is there a better performing antenna for the HT MX Connector other than the one I already have. We are on 154.965 w/ TX of 153.815.

Will I see alot of RX problems if I went to the short one stubby antenna for VHF.

I do not like the long pointy ones that Motorola makes....

Your suggestions are appreciated.

You can use the GP300 antenna, works much better than the tapered china antenna.

8505816K03 for 150 to 160 range. (Saber antenna)

NAD6502 for 150.8 to 160 (GP300)

HAD9728 tunable for 146 to 174

These antnnas have larger diam. wire than the tapered ones giving better bandwith.

I second, third, and fourth Will's post. A field strength meter tells me that an MT1000 antenna on my 1250 yields about 3 db at the center of its range and about 5 mHz more bandwidth than the tapered ones. Wonder who was at the switch when MotherMoto made the decision on the "stylish" tapered crap.
