Does anyone know what the wattage of the audio amp on the Spectra is at 8 ohms? Also, what is the minimum impedance that can be put across the amplifier?

The receiver audio output rating is 5W or 8W, depending on whether it's a mid or high power radio, but my power calculations disagree with this, and I can't understand why the radio's power rating would matter.
There is a 2 ohm speaker available for the Spectra; they call this a high output unit, so it will drive this low of an impedance.

With the 2 ohm speaker the Spectra will do over 18 watts RMS.
Both the mid and hi power spectras have the same amplifier chip.
The early Spectras up to about 1990 could have the older audio IC which does not like anything less than 4 ohms load, that is about 10 watts. And, yes, they can be upgraded with the later audio IC and added cap.
