The first step is to make sure you have all the required
test equipment. This includes having 3 each 50 ohm
attenuators of say at least 6 db. You put these on each
port of the duplexor to maintain constant impeadence
throughout the tuning.
Then very carefully follow the instuctions that fit the style
and type of duplexer you have. As was posted, the
repeater builder site has some good information.
Just don't go twisting the knobs and capacitors without
understanding what the effect will have on the tuning. A
couple of minutes of bumbling around can cause
considerable time for an experienced person to get it back
to normal.
Don't forget that you may have to replace the existing
cables if your moving the tuning any great distance. The
cable can effect the duplexer operation and insertion loss
depending on the design.
Also make sure you onlu use double shielded type coax
cables or "heliax" type cables on the jumpers between
cavities. Cheap coax can cause a repeater to have
desense problems in the receiver.
